Fort Davis National Historic Site will be sponsoring a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program this summer. The YCC is a summer employment program for young men and women to work and learn together while completing projects on public lands. The YCC program this summer will include repairing dirt roads, removing vegetation, repairing and clearing hiking trails, assisting with historic preservation projects, and working with National Park Service staff in other duties. The program will begin June 12, 2006 and continue through August 11, 2006.
All youth, ages 15 through 18, are eligible to apply and we encourage both young women and young men to apply. Program enrollees will be paid minimum wage. Applications are available in the Visitor Center at Fort Davis National Historic Site and must be submitted by April 19, 2006 to be considered. For more information, please contact Jeffrey Rust at 432-426-2315.
