Fire Restrictions in Monument

Because of extreme dryness in the area and resulting high fire danger, today the management team issued a ban on all campfires within the monument. This means no wood or charcoal fires (even in the park-provided grills). Notices will be posted on all bulletin boards at Twin Peaks and Alamo campgrounds. This no-fires ban is in effect until further notice. Containerized fuel, such as that used by backpackers is still permitted.
