Copies of the Wright Company Factory Boundary Assessment and Environmental Assessment are now available from the National Park Headquarters in Dayton, Ohio. This assessment responds to the requirements of Public Law 108-447, which directed the National Park Service to study alternatives for incorporating The Wright Company factory as a unit of Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio.
?The Wright Company factory buildings are nationally significant,? commented Park Superintendent Lawrence Blake. ?There are no other existing resources as intimately associated with The Wright Company or the beginnings of the American aviation industry. The NPS hopes that this document will be useful for the Congress, Delphi, the Aviation Heritage Foundation, and the community as they discuss the future of these important historical assets.?
The Boundary Assessment presents four management alternatives for The Wright Company factory buildings that explore a full range of options for ownership and operations. The alternatives additionally examine different options for site development. The Assessment makes no recommendation, but does conclude that the addition of The Wright Company factory site would be a feasible addition to the boundary of Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park if a partner steps forward to shoulder the cost of site development.
