On Saturday, January 21, 2006 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. join a Park Ranger to plant herb seeds for spring transfer into the historic vegetable garden. Children in the 18th century town of Frederica spend many hours planting seeds, pulling weeds and cultivating the harvest in their own backyard gardens. Children of all ages are invited to attend and will be able to plant seeds to take home and plant in their home gardens. Please dress for outdoor weather, the program will be held rain or shine. This is the first in a series of children?s programs to be given once a month at Fort Frederica National Monument.
The following weekend on Saturday, January 28, at 2 p.m. join a British soldier at Bloody Marsh to learn his story about the monotony of everyday life and the thrill of battle on St. Simons Island in 1742.
