As part of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday commemoration, on January 16, 2006, Central High School National Historic Site will be showing a 60-minute children?s animated film called ?Our Friend, Martin: A Magical Movie Adventure? at 1:00 p.m. Before the movie, Park Ranger Christian Davis will read a children?s book called ?What is Martin Luther King, Jr., Day?? Children can also pick up a Martin Luther King, Jr. coloring page and view a temporary mini-exhibit on the life of Dr. King at the visitor center. Children between the ages 9 through 13 will have the opportunity to become Junior Rangers. The Junior Ranger program is designed to enhance students? knowledge of Little Rock and the 1957 crisis and receive an official Junior Ranger Badge and a Certificate. We will also be showing ?A New Time, A New Voice? a 25-minute special by the National Park Service at the Martin Luther King Jr National Historic Site. This production will be shown at 2:30 p.m., and once again at 3:30 p.m.
Central High School National Historic Site is located at 2125 Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive directly across the street from Central High School. The visitor?s center is open from 9:00 a.m. ? 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
