Patsy Bates, Park Secretary for Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, has announced that January 31, 2006 will be the final day of her 21 year career with the National Park Service. Patsy has worked at Lincoln Boyhood NM, intermittently, since July 1974. Beginning her career as a Park Aid in Interpretation, she later became a Park Technician and then a Park Ranger. In 1991, her duties changed when she become an Office Automation Clerk and then Park Secretary. During the course of her career she has also served as the park?s Federal Women?s Program Coordinator, Eastern National Coordinator, President of the LIBO Employees Association and has been an EEO Counselor since 2002. In her spare time Patsy raised four children and husband Bob.
Patsy will be greatly missed. A retirement potluck luncheon in her honor will be hosted by the park on January 27th. Patsy and her husband will continue to make their home in Christmas Lake Village, Santa Claus, Indiana. Patsy?s retirement plans include working with her church, enjoying a life of leisure, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Patsy has been a credit to the National Park Service and particularly to Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial.
