Holiday Hours at Chiricahua National Monument and Fort Bowie National Historic Site
?The visitor centers at Chiricahua National Monument and Fort Bowie National Historic Site will be closed December 25,? announced Superintendent Alan Whalon. Visitors will have access to the scenic drive, hiking trails, and campground at Chiricahua. The hiking trail to Fort Bowie will be open. Both visitor centers will return to the regular hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the 26. If it snows, the scenic drive at Chiricahua will be closed .
Chiricahua National Monument is located 4 miles east of the junction of Arizona Highways 181 and 186. Entrance fees for the park are $5 per person. Access to the Fort Bowie visitor center and ruins is via a 3 mile round trip walk. The trailhead is located on the Apache Pass Road either 12 miles south of Bowie, or travel 22 miles southeast of Willcox on Arizona Highway 186 to the graded dirt road leading east into Apache Pass. Visitors are reminded there are no facilities at either site. Please bring your own drinks and snacks, and make sure your vehicle has enough gas.
