While on patrol on Schoodic Point on the morning of December 8th, rangers discovered the body of a local US Fish and Wildlife Service special agent. The 37-year-old agent was known to regularly use the area for his fitness training, and, based on his attire, he had just completed a morning run when he apparently suffered a significant cardiac event. No foul play is suspected. A joint investigation is in progress by the Maine State Police, USFWS and the National Park Service. The NPS is assisting the USFWS with line of duty death protocols and CISM.
