December Performances at New Orleans Jazz NHP
Hungry for some music? The New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park is pleased to celebrate the Holiday season (and our re-opening) with an assortment of concerts and ranger programs sure to raise your spirits with New Orleans? gift to the world- Jazz. In addition to the scheduled performances, don?t miss the musical rangers Matt Hampsey and Bruce Barnes, every Tuesday and Thursday in December at 3:00 p.m. for their performances of various indigenous New Orleans music styles which helped pave the way for jazz.
Saturday, December 3 Tom McDermott 1:00 ? 2:30 p.m.
Navy Band New Orleans Brass Holiday Concert 3: oo ? 4:30 p.m. Two dynamic Navy brass ensembles perform Holiday music complete with a visit from a bead tossing Santa Claus! The Navy Brass Quintet and the New Orleans Brass Band, comprised of Navy Band musicians stationed here in the Big Easy, are renowned for their high level of musicianship and versatility.
Wednesday, December 7 Jim Hession 12:00 ? 1:00 p.m. Classic jazz, blues and ragtime as interpreted by pianist Jim Hession in a lively and informative lunch-time concert.

Saturday, December 10 Bob French & the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band 2:00 ? 3:30 p.m. Jazz drummer Bob French inherited the role of bandleader for the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band from his father Albert ?Papa? French, leader and banjoist for the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band from 1958- 1977. This longstanding band (which once included Louis Armstrong) can be expected to perform what this city is known for best, hot New Orleans Jazz! Wednesday, December 14 Jim Hession 12:00 ? 1:00 p.m. Classic jazz, blues and ragtime as interpreted by pianist Jim Hession in a lively and informative lunch-time concert.
Friday, December 16 Lars Edegran & the Rverwalk Jazz Band featuring Big Al Carson 2:00 -3:30 p.m. This annual performance has become a Holiday mainstay at the park. Join the Boogie Woogie Santa Claus (Big Al Carson) as he serenades seasonal favorites backed by the 7 piece traditional jazz band led by banjoist/ pianist Lars Edegran.
Saturday, December 17 Connie Jones 2:00 ? 3:30 New Orleans born cornet player Connie Jones spends much of his playing time these days on the American Queen Mississippi Riverboat so don?t miss this rare opportunity to catch him and his 7-piece band wail on a program of classic New Orleans jazz.
Wednesday, December 21 Jim Hession 12:00 ? 1:00 p.m. Classic jazz, blues and ragtime as interpreted by pianist Jim Hession in a lively and informative lunch-time concert.

These activities are free and open to the public and will take place in the park?s Visitor Center at 916 N. Peters Street, unless specified. The Visitor Center is the site of programs and music performances relating to the origins, development and progression of America?s original art form ? jazz.
