The Monument will also be closed on December 31st from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and New Year?s Day, January 1st. For the remainder of the holiday season the visitor center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The gift shop, operated by the Pipestone Indian Shrine Association, will keep the same hours. If you are visiting only the gift shop, please mention this at the visitor center front desk and entrance fees will be waived. Stopping by the Monument in the wintertime gives visitors a new perspective on this valued local resource. Visitors should dress warmly as they enjoy the wildlife and natural areas of the Monument. Bring a camera! Winter photography can be extremely enjoyable. In the visitor center, families can learn more about the famous pipestone quarries and enjoy the displays during this time of the year. Looking for something that keeps giving year-round? Purchase an annual pass for Pipestone National Monument, or the new National Park Pass that is accepted at all 388 National Park Service areas. Both are good for one full year from date of purchase.
The staff at the Monument wishes all a happy holiday season!
