CELEBRATING A VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS AT FREDERICK DOUGLASS NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

Frederick Douglass National Historic Site

National Park News

Washington, D.C – The National Park Service will present a holiday program for the entire family on Sunday, December 18, 2005, at Frederick Douglass National Historic Site (FDNHS), located at 1411 W Street, S.E.
All ages are invited to participate in a fun-filled day that includes a puppet show and dramatic readings of selections from Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol." The two performances will be given by the Howard Players, a group of fine actors from the Howard University Department of Theatre Arts. The program will culminate with Fighter for Freedom, a 17-minute film on the life of Frederick Douglass and a tour of the Douglass Home that highlights Victorian holiday traditions. Programs begin at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. As space is limited for each program, reservations are recommended and can be made by calling (202) 426-5961.
For additional information, contact the site at (202) 426-5961 or visit www.nps.gov/frdo.
