Park Seeks Donations for Free Junior Ranger History Camp

Natchez National Historical Park

National Park News

The National Park Foundation in Washington, DC has approved a matching funds grant for Natchez National Historical Park to host a series of three, week long “Junior Ranger” camps for Natchez area youths ages 8 to 14 in the summer of 2006. Each camp will include educational programs for the children to learn more about the history of Natchez, along with field trips, craft activities and games. Our goal is to provide an enjoyable and engaging program that will instill in the children an understanding of, and appreciation for, their hometown and its rich history.
The National Park Foundation will match all donated funds dollar for dollar with a total award of $15,000. The Park is requesting that all interested donors from Natchez businesses or private individuals help us by contributing. Your donation will provide a wonderful educational experience for Natchez youths.
Donations can be sent to: Natchez National Historical Park 640 South Canal Street, Box E Natchez, Mississippi 39120 Attn. Junior Ranger Challenge Grant
Deadline: December 31, 2005
Or contact Jim Heaney, Supervisory Park Ranger at 601-442-7049 ext. 14
