On Tuesday August 6, 2013, park rangers responded to a report of a missing boater in the Chattahoochee River in Roswell, Georgia. At approximately 4:30 on Tuesday afternoon, rangers received a call for assistance to help find a male subject associated with a party of 21 other boaters. The man was swimming between two rafts when he went under water and never resurfaced. Rangers with the National Park Service as well as Georgia Department of Natural Resources, City of Roswell, City of Sandy Springs, City of Johns Creek, Forsyth County and City of Atlanta Fire Departments as well as Dawson County K9 Rescue have been searching in less than ideal conditions. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms along with dense fog have plagued the search area for the last two days. As of Thursday, August 8, the search continues. City of Roswell Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
