A search is in progress for a 32-year-old Washington man who failed to return from a planned three-day loop hike in the park. Tim Bailey began his hike on Friday morning; when he failed to return by Sunday evening, his wife reported him as overdue. Bailey’s vehicle was found at the Aurora Ridge trailhead on Monday morning. An initial hasty search began on Tuesday; yesterday, twelve searchers from the park, aided by a helicopter, continued to search the area between Aurora Ridge and the North Fork of the Sol Duc, his planned route. Bailey is described as athletic and a capable hiker with previous overnight experience in mountainous terrain. He is 6’1” and 160 pounds with brown eyes and hair; he has a short beard and arm band tattoos on both upper arms. The park asks that anyone who may have seen Bailey call dispatch at 360-565-3000.
