Colonial National Park rangers assisted the Virginia State Police with the 104th National Governors Association conference held on July 13th-15th in Williamsburg, Virginia. The conference was hosted at Colonial Williamsburg Lodge, adjacent to the Colonial Parkway. The conference was well attended by governors from almost every state in the union and other influential dignitary guests. The event was managed from an ICS unified command perspective. Virginia State Police, the lead agency, received assistance from many local, state, and federal public safety agencies. Colonial rangers provided security patrols in the vicinity of the Colonial Williamsburg Lodge and the parkway during the entirety of the conference. On July 15th, rangers assisted James City County police with a felony stop on the Colonial Parkway involving five suspects that were wanted for robbing a local business. All suspects were taken into custody without further incident.
