National Park News

Seneca Falls, NY - Women's Rights National Historical Park is pleased to announce that the historic M’Clintock House, located at 14 East Williams Street in Waterloo, New York, will reopen for summer operations on Saturday, May 26, 2012.  Admission is free of charge.

“We are proud to be a part of the National Park system, and we are as equally proud to highlight this nationally significant historic home in Waterloo,” said Superintendent Tammy Duchesne.  Elizabeth Cady Stanton and members of the M’Clintock family drafted the Declaration of Sentiments in the M’Clintock House prior to the 1848 Women’s Rights Convention.  “The abolition and women’s rights actions of the M’Clintock family are a vital part of the story at Women’s Rights NHP,” added Duchesne.

As part of Waterloo's "Celebrate Commemorate" observance, the M'Clintock House will host a visit by President Theodore Roosevelt, portrayed by Mr. Gib Young, on Saturday, May 26, and Sunday, May 27.  Both programs will begin at 1:00 p.m.  Mr. Young will highlight President Roosevelt's involvement with the national parks and women's suffrage.

The M’Clintock House will be open Friday through Monday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., throughout the summer until Sunday, September 2, 2012.  Interpretive programs about the M'Clintock family will be offered at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on those days.  The M'Clintock House is part of Women's Rights National Historical Park.  Admission is free of charge.
