Early on the morning of January 27th, a ranger on patrol came upon a vehicle parked on the beach with the driver door ajar. The gas cap appeared to have been burned and there were burn marks on the rear quarter panel of the vehicle. An unconscious woman was found reclined in the driver’s seat. The ranger called for ALS from Corpus Christi Fire Department and secured the area. The ranger was able to awaken the woman and determined that she had overdosed on an unknown substance in an attempt to commit suicide. Additional rangers responded. They provided medical care until Corpus Christi FD arrived on scene. The woman was transported to a local hospital. Investigation confirmed that she’d tried to kill herself and burn her vehicle.
