The nearly 200 employees of Natchez Trace Parkway have attained several significant safety benchmarks. Together, they have:
Reduced property damage payouts by 75% in two years
Reduced government motor vehicle accidents by over 50% in two years
Reduced employee injuries by nearly 50% over two years.
Moreover, the parkway had no lost time injuries this year. This has been accomplished through the combined efforts of all employees, Operational Leadership training, new safety training, district safety sessions with the superintendent, safety committee restructuring, and the promotion of open dialogue about safety practices.
This accomplishment is especially impressive considering the staff drove over 1.4 million operational miles, handled major tornado events in the spring with thousands of downed trees, handled hundreds of public safety incidents, and worked on $15 million of maintenance projects.
