Cape Cod National Seashore held its 50th anniversary employee and alumni reunion on a weekend in mid-September. It was attended by 96 employees and alumni representing every year as far back as 1962. Attendees came from 11 different states and from as far away as California, Arizona, Maine, and Louisiana.
Friday night’s welcome dinner kicked off the weekend with 76 attendees. Guest speakers were Superintendent George Price and former Superintendent Herb Olsen. Park Historian Bill Burke took attendees on a trip through Cape Cod National Seashore history with a photo presentation. Bill Burke’s daughters, a violinist trio, played a special tribute in memory of employees and alumni who have passed away.
Saturday’s events included a park tour, a climate change and marsh restoration presentation with a field trip, and a clam bake. The clam bake was held at Herring Cove Beach and included the traditional lobster, clams, and mussels, as well as a beach fire and a spectacular sunset.
The reunion weekend concluded on Sunday with golf in the morning and the Old Harbor Life-Saving Station Rededication in the afternoon.
A special thanks to the Reunion Committee, consisting of eight alumni – Bill Hooper, Beverly Farrell, Tom Keating, Carolyn Canavosio, Steve Gazzano, Len Kerwin, Jeanne Kerwin, and Dennis St. Aubin.
