It began in 1904 when automobiles were driven 1,218 miles from New York to St. Louis to prove that the automobile was here to stay. Currently, it is a week-long excursion held in different areas of the country annually. This event is sponsored by the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), Veteran Motor car Club of America (VMCCA) and the American Automobile Association (AAA).
About 800 members of the Antique Automobile Club of America participated. They drove about 300 antique cars built in 1935 or before including beautiful Buicks, Chevrolets, Chryslers, Duesenbergs, Fords, Oldsmobiles, Packards, Pierce Arrows, Rolls Royces and others. Participants came from many of the 50 states in the United States and parts of Canada.
