On June 16 and 17, rangers from Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, Gulf Islands National Seashore, and Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument met just outside New Orleans at Jean Lafitte's Barataria Preserve for training in Tactical Emergency Medical Services. Students were trained using the most current protocols and procedures as outlined in NPS-FM-51T. The training included classroom instruction and skills practice followed by a day of vehicle-, foot-, and vessel-based scenarios. The final exercise was a simulated active shooter scenario with multiple patients in the preserve's Environmental Education Center. The training, hosted by Jean Lafitte, utilized funding from the Albright Wirth Grant Program.
