A recent report on the instability of the Front Three wall of the historic Fort Jefferson on Garden Key indicated that this side of the fort could collapse at any time.
The park has accordingly mobilized its incident management team to implement a plan to relocate park employees out of eight residences located in Front Three by May 15th. Park maintenance shops, the employee laundry and the park clinic also have to be relocated to other locations within the fort.
The first of at least three work crews arrived on site on April 27th for a 21-day detail. The crew is composed of employees from Everglades, Biscayne, Big Cypress and Blue Ridge. IC Matt Ott (email@example.com) is developing a list of available resources for the next two work crews (from May 19th to June 8th and from June 9th to June 29th). Parks with employees possessing maintenance skills who might be available for assignment are encouraged to contact the incident commander.
