Ocmulgee National Monument has nine new waysides throughout the park, expanding on the history of its railroad cuts, the Ocmulgee River, Civil War battles, wetlands, and the historic Dunlap House. Two of the waysides replace the older Earth Lodge and Cornfield Mound waysides.
The project was funded by twenty percent fee demo money. The waysides were designed and written by park staff; both park volunteers and staff contributed to the photography for the waysides. The waysides were installed by the park’s maintenance staff and community service workers. The park hopes the waysides will broaden the visitor’s knowledge of Ocmulgee National Monument.
