In observance of Veterans’ Day, photographs of employees and staff family members who served or are currently serving in the military were displayed in the headquarters lobby.
The display, which opened on November 8th, grew during the week, totaling over 65 photos of 48 different individuals, with 12 being current employees. All military branches were represented and the veterans in the photos ranged from WWI to those currently serving.
The display drew a lot of attention and interest, not only from employees, but from many in the community who stopped by to view the photos. The stories and recollections that were shared at the display were as entertaining and humorous as they were touching and honorable, as vets described the wide-ranging experiences of their service around the world. Due
to the interest, the photos remained up through November 17th, when a reception was held in the headquarters lobby that gave employees the opportunity to meet and thank many of those in the photos for their service to the country.
Superintendent George Price welcomed the group, expressing our thanks and gratitude to those who served. The concept and development of the display and reception was that of Rainie Brownell, the V&RP budget analyst and concessions specialist.
