Park firefighters contacted ranger Mike Hughes on August 11th and told him that someone had stolen two commercial air conditioning units from outside the fire management office in Woodville the previous night. Hughes and a county deputy investigated and discovered some tire tracks that appeared to be from a duel wheel barrow leading from the spot where the units had been taken across a parking lot towards a residence on Highway 69. They followed the tracks to the house and contacted Granville Dennis, Jr. Dennis confessed to taking the two units, then dismantling them and removing the copper and aluminum. He was arrested by the deputy. Investigation revealed that he’d also taken an air conditioning unit from the business next door. The case has been forward to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
