Use Fees for Bird Island Basin to be Reinstated

Superintendent Colin Campbell announced today that the improvements to the Bird Island Basin boat-launching ramp, camping, and windsurfing areas are nearing completion. Therefore, on September 1, the park will reinstate the collection of fees for use of the Bird Island Basin facilities. The collection of fees was suspended during construction. Much of the revenue used for the improvements came from the park’s Fee Demonstration Program, in which most of the funds used for repairs and improvements to park facilities come from fees collected at the park, such as the park’s entrance fee and those collected for the use of Bird Island Basin. Superintendent Campbell wishes to thank the public and all of the park’s partners who contributed financially to the improvements.
