View along a loop trail that leads to the banks of the Hoh River. The lower branches of western hemlock, spruce, fir trees, red cedar, and other coniferous and deciduous plants are typically covered with moss, lichen, and ferns. Annual precipitation in the Hoh Rain Forest ranges from 140 to 167 inches (12 to 14 feet). The forest area is also protected from weather extremes; it rarely approaches freezing along the coast, and temperatures rarely exceed 80 degrees F.
