Mount Mageik
Ice-clad Mount Mageik as viewed southwestward, rising above the head of the flat-floored Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes. East Summit is on left skyline. North Summit to its right is topped by an ice-filled crater, from which several thick lava flows extend. Central Summit, highest point on the mountain at just over 7,100 feet (2,165 m) rises on the rear skyline, with fumarolically active crater below it to its left. Southwest Summit is hidden. Steaming cone of Mount Martin rises on the right skyline, 7 km southwest of Mageik's North Summit. At foot of Mageik (photo center), Mount Cerberus is one of Trident's dacite domes. Falling Mountain, in shadow at left, is another.
